What happens when you visit the site

Like any server on the internet, the server hosting this site automatically logs every request it receives. That log includes the date and time, the IP address of the device that asked for the page, the browser type and the pages accessed.

An IP address is personal data under the GDPR, even when we have no idea whose it is. This logging is neither optional nor a choice of ours: it is how a web server works, and it exists to keep the service running and to detect abuse. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in the security and operation of the site, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

We do not use these logs to identify you, follow you or build profiles. The site has no analytics tools, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.

What is stored on your device

This site sets no cookies. The only thing it stores on your device is the language you picked, kept by the browser itself so the page opens in the same language next time.

It needs no consent because it is strictly necessary to give you what you asked for — the exemption in Article 5 of Portuguese Law 41/2004, as the European Data Protection Board reads it in Guidelines 2/2023. It does not identify you, it never leaves your device, and it disappears if you clear the site data in your browser.

Services the page loads from elsewhere

Some parts of the site come from other companies servers. When your browser fetches them, it contacts those servers directly and reveals its IP address and browser type. That contact does not go through us, and we receive nothing from it.

The Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp links are just links: they contact those platforms only once you click them.

When you get in touch

Reservations and enquiries happen over WhatsApp or by phone. When you write or call, you share with us whatever that conversation involves — your phone number and, on WhatsApp, your profile name and whatever you write.

The legal basis is a pre-contractual step taken at your own request, under Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR: you asked for a table, and to give you one we need to know who you are and when you are coming.

That data serves only that purpose. It goes into no marketing database, it triggers no advertising, and it is neither sold nor passed to anyone.

Who the data is shared with

We sell and hand over data to no one. Even so, there are companies that process data on our behalf, or that receive it because of how the site works:

Each has its own data-handling rules, which are outside our control, and each may process data outside the European Union.

How long it is kept

The server access logs are kept by the hosting provider, for the period it sets. That is not a period we control or can change.

Reservation conversations stay on the restaurant phone for as long as they are useful to the service — as a rule, the time it takes to arrange and honour the booking. You can ask at any point for the conversation to be deleted.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and Portuguese Law 58/2019, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, speak to Paulo Azevedo on the phone number or WhatsApp given in section 01. If you believe your data is not being handled as it should be, you have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, under Article 77 of the GDPR.

Alternative dispute resolution

In compliance with Portuguese Law 144/2015, we inform you that, in a consumer dispute, you have the right to turn to an alternative dispute resolution body. The body with jurisdiction over the area of this establishment is CICAP, which covers the municipalities of the Porto Metropolitan Area, Matosinhos included.

And this is more than a right of recourse: in consumer disputes worth up to 5000 euros, Portuguese Law 63/2019 lets you take the case to CICAP on your own decision. If you do, we are bound to accept the arbitration, even though we never signed up to it, and the ruling carries the weight of a court judgment.
